Other info. - This attractive yet slightly weedy species can be found mainly in the Ozark Region of Missouri but is also found in a handful of counties north of the Missouri River. The plant is easy to identify because of its big ray flowers and winged stems. It is also a fairly early bloomer. Most of the large flowered members of this family bloom later in the year.
V. helianthoides grows well from seed and would make an easy yet showy garden subject.
