Habitat - Cultivated, escaped to fallow fields, crop fields, roadsides, railroads, open disturbed areas.

Origin - Native to the Old World, cultivated worldwide.

Other info. - This species can be found cultivated throughout Missouri and is sporadically escaped throughout the state. This is an easy plant to identify becasue of its big, thick stems, and whitish subglobose fruits.
Many cultivars of this species exist so plants may not exactly match the photographs above.
