Habitat - Parasitic on trees in low woods, valleys, along streams, and roadsides.

Origin - Native to U.S.

Other info. - This parasitic species can be found in the extreme southern counties of the state. The plant is easy to spot in many trees along the roadsides of southeastern Missouri. This is the common "Mistletoe" of holiday fame.
P. serotinum was used medicinally by natives to treat epilepsy, headaches, lung ailments, paralysis, and also as an oral contraceptive. The plant is toxic and should not be ingested.
