Flowering - May - July. Habitat - Bogs. Origin - Native to U.S. Other info. - This subspecies of Phlox carolina has been reported in just one southern Missouri county (Ripley). The plant is more common (but still not frequent) in states to the southeast. This species and another, P. glaberrima Wherry, are typically very difficult to differentiate in the field. The differences between the two are minimal and only much experience with the two species in the field leads to a confident identification when a plant is encountered.
