Origin - Native to U.S.
Other info. - This species can be found mainly in the southern half of Missouri. Three varieties occur in the state based on leaf sheath pubescence and spikelet shape. I won't go into the varieties here.
Grasses of this genus are easy to recognize but can sometimes be difficult to key to species.
