Other info. - This species can be found in the southeast corner of Missouri and may be more widespread. This is a non-distinct species vegetatively but it can be easily identified in fruit because of its 2-ranked inflorescences.
This species was recently separated from another, C. oligocarpa Schkuhr ex Willd. The two species are distinguished by the size and shape of their fruits. Plants with fruits larger than 4.2mm belong to C. planispicata.
